raise, rise


1) raise - / reɪz /– переходный глагол (transitive), т.е требует после себя объект действия.

  • Fred raised his hand.   Фред поднял свою руку. – поднял Что?

Raise – правильный глагол:

raise, raised, raised


2) rise - / raɪz / – intransitive, т.е. не требует после себя объект.

  • The sun rises in the east.  Солнце поднимается на востоке.

Rise – неправильный глагол:

rise, rose, risen

rise - / raɪz / 

  • She decided to raise her hand when the teacher asked who wanted to rise to the challenge.
  • If you raise your voice, I might not be able to rise above the noise.
  • He hopes to raise enough money so that the sun can rise on a brighter future for everyone.
